In July 2016, I embarked on my journey with AHI-Carrier, marking a pivotal chapter in my professional life. My career, rooted in refrigeration since my apprenticeship days in 1987, has been a dynamic evolution, with each experience contributing to my growth.
Having honed my skills at Metraclark and successfully completing my trade test with Improvair Western Cape in 1990, I found my stride at Carrier in Cape Town in 1997. The turning point came in 2000 when Derrick Daubern became my mentor in sales, marketing, and CMS. His belief in me opened doors that set the course for my career.
Over the years, I’ve assumed various roles, and since 2019, I’ve taken charge of Toshiba and Carrier CMS Exports for Sub Saharan Africa, overseeing a diverse range of countries. This includes not only managing relationships but also navigating regulatory landscapes such as NRCS, SABS, LOA, and standards applications.
My role involves constant interaction with contractors, dealers, consulting engineers, and end-users. No two days are alike, and that’s what keeps the journey exciting. Traveling across African countries has allowed me to forge strong relationships, a testament to the importance of connections in our industry.
In my current capacity, I emphasize the energy-saving capabilities of Toshiba’s residential units and the versatility of Toshiba VRF systems. Our dedicated team at AHI-Carrier, encompassing sales engineers, technical support, supply chain, logistics, finance, and management, plays a vital role in our success. Teamwork, comprising 80% of our success, is the backbone of our achievements.
On the Toshiba front, we extend our support from the design stage to equipment selection, delivery tracking, on-site installation support, and final handover. The collaboration between our teams ensures a seamless process, emphasizing the value we bring to our clients.
The past four-plus years in Africa have been a journey of growth, learning, and shared successes. AHI-Carrier’s commitment to excellence, coupled with the relentless efforts of our incredible team, has made this journey possible, and I look forward to the continued impact we can make together.
